Opera gas sensors have become widely accepted by automobile dealerships because they are well suited to their special needs.

  • Sensors are very accurate which is important where people must work all day in a space shared by cars and worker safety is essential.
  • Sensors are extremely robust in design an will stand up to minor collisions
  • Sensors are resistant to the many solvents, oils cleaning products and aerosols used in the maintenance areas
  • Low cost built-in network capabilities make sensors easy to install and configure out of the box to suit a variety of ventilation options.
  • Sensors keep heating costs in check which are already elevated due to constant opening and closing of garage doors.
  • Built-in display of gas concentration builds worker confidence

Sensor placement for dealerships is similar to that of parking garages but slightly more stringent due to the special requirements.  Sensors are placed in customer service drive-ins, show rooms, washing areas, automobile storage areas and maintenance departments.  A minimum radius of coverage of 12 meters (40 feet) around each sensor should be maintained.

In the maintenance area sensors should be installed two meters off the floor to avoid interfering with work stations, tables, and specialized machines which inevitably cover all available wall space up to 1.5 meters off the floor.  In other areas sensors can be installed from 1 to 2 meters from the floor to suit.  Sensors are water resistant but should they be installed directly in the spray of a washing area it is recommended to add the additional protection of a model 5000-BT water proof guard.
